Jamison Bexley was the one who got away.

If only I hadn’t pushed him.

Seven years ago, he was my everything.

My confidant.

My safe haven.

My best friend.

However, dating was never an option.

Not when his eyes gravitated toward every girl in town but me.

That is, until the curse of bad timing found us both… and struck.

All it took was one night.

One big mistake.

Altering everything we could ever be.

I’m still paying for my sins all these years later.

Life has been downright cruel.

I’m working countless hours trying to hold onto the pieces of my shattered dreams.

Determined that nothing will keep me from my end-goal.

Until Jamison struts back into our small town and gets a first-hand glimpse of my life.

Suddenly, he wants to be my knight in shining armor.

But I don’t need a savior.

Those moments in time are long gone.

And he’s about to realize why.

Review

Second chance romance is catnip to me but I’m often wary of ‘angsty’ books, so this was a very pleasant surprise, and I really enjoyed the characters and the story.

Jami and Violet were best friends and more until tragedy got in the way and changed their lives. Several years have passed and a chance encounter between the two draws Jami back to the place he has not returned to since that fateful period in his life, and his timing couldn’t have been better.

Violet knows she made a huge mistake back then and with a second chance with Jami within her grasp, a son who needs all her attention, her precarious financial situation and an ex-husband who won’t move on, she has her hands full.

Jami and Violet have so much chemistry and passion between them, but their efforts towards reclaiming what they lost in the past and all those emotions – pain, hurt, betrayal, heartbreak and more – really got to me. Camp Bexley has got to be a special place because the place that was the catalyst for their breakup became the place where they got another chance. The chance meeting that reunited Jami with the only woman he ever loved also reunited him with his brothers and their childhood dream.

Jami and Violet learned the valuable lesson that life is too short to waste, and I love that there were no games between them even with all the negative emotions threatening to overwhelm them.

This is definitely a must-read book and I’m looking forward to more in this series.
