When love drives you crazy . . .

When sexy Joe Malone never calls after their explosive kiss, Kylie shoves him out of her mind. Until she needs a favor, and it’s a doozy. Something precious to her has been stolen and there’s only one person with unique finder-and-fixer skills that can help—Joe. It means swallowing her pride and somehow trying to avoid the temptation to throttle him—or seduce him.

the best thing to do . . .

No, Joe didn’t call after the kiss. He’s the fun time guy, not the forever guy. And Kylie, after all she’s been through, deserves a good man who will stay. But everything about Kylie makes it damned hard to focus, and though his brain knows what he has to do, his heart isn’t getting the memo.

… is enjoy the ride.

As Kylie and Joe go on the scavenger hunt of their lives, they discover surprising things about each other. Now, the best way for them to get over “that kiss” might just be to replace it with a hundred more.

Review

I look forward to every new book by Jill Shalvis with unbridled anticipation because I know I will be getting a funny, entertaining and sexy story with enjoyable characters and interesting secondary characters, and as usual I was not disappointed.

Kylie Masters has a very unusual job as a woodworker, which she learned at the hands of her beloved grandfather and as much as she enjoys her work, the memories of the time spent with her grandfather are even more precious and when she loses the one item he carved for her that she carries around like a good luck charm, she knows she needs the help of a professional to find it.

Joe Malone is a master of self-control and his job as a security expert requires it, but around Kylie, he can’t seem to muster much of it, not that he would let her know that after the explosive kiss they shared. But now she needs his expertise and she’s not willing to stand by idly while he does his work, which means he’ll have her in space all time and his restraint will be sorely tested.

The chemistry between Kylie and Joe was sizzling hot and watching them circle each other and fight an impossible battle to resist each other was one of the more fun things about this story. Joe knows that the mistakes of his past makes him a bad bet for any woman, but with Kylie his resolve to avoid any close relationship is nonexistent. Kylie does not take no for an answer and always finds another way around any obstacle she faces, but with Joe, she may have met an immovable object.

It’s no secret that I am a huge fan of Jill Shalvis and practically inhale everything that she writes, but this book did not have the magic her writing usually has for me and it took me thrice as much time to finish it. The suspense part of the story became the focal point of the story and was underwhelming for me, and overtook the romance, which I enjoyed. The secondary characters, especially Joe’s father and Mollie kind of made up for it but I wish I had enjoyed it more.
