Katerina Dawson knows exactly what she wants from life. And as the new associate at the top law firm in the city, she’s ready to live out her dreams of becoming a criminal lawyer. But going on coffee runs and babysitting kids during the day was definitely not what she had in mind. She knows that anyone else would kill to be in her shoes, but she has to draw the line somewhere. That’s easier said than done, though, when Kat has to confront her handsome boss…
Tristan Channing and Jaxon Bentley run a successful law firm together and the two partners couldn’t be busier right now. When Jaxon suddenly takes a leave of absence, Tristan begrudgingly assumes responsibility of the new associate, the hot new associate, who has curves for days. Needing to keep his distance from her, Tristan sends Kat on needless errands and has her doing work even an intern wouldn’t touch, like picking up his kids. But his plan backfires when he sees his children grow attached to Kat and sees her getting comfortable in his home. It triggers something deep within him, and it feels right to have her there. Will Tristan be able to keep his work and personal lives separate, or will he find that his heart holds the final verdict?
Review
BREACHING THE CONTRACT is sweet and fast start to Ms. Fernando’s new series, just perfect for when you are in the mood for a quick read or if you are a fan of workplace romances. This story has a lot of what I enjoy in a book – interesting characters, sizzling chemistry and adorable kids, but most of all, little drama.
Kat Dawson is a new law graduate ready to take the world by storm and only the best law firm will do. Working under the tutelage of one of the best criminal attorneys in the business is her dream and she’s already making her mark, but when he has to take emergency leave, she finds herself under the supervision of his partner.
Ordinarily, this would not be an issue, except for the attraction that sparked between them from their first meeting and the fact that her new boss considers her his new nanny/ gofer, instead of using her legal skills. What happens when the attraction between them can’t be contained and they cross the line?
I enjoyed Kat and Tristan’s interactions and how their relationship grew as they got to know each other better. Tristan’s arrogance was offset by his adorable devotion to his children and the fact that under all of that he was a really good man. Kat is feisty and smart, and has what it takes to succeed in her chosen career. They were a positive influence on each other and they grew personally out of it.
This was a very entertaining story and my only complaint is that the story ended abruptly, just at the point it was starting to pick up steam. Also, I think there was room for the characters to be developed even more but it ended too soon for that. I am looking forward to the next story in the series and hope we get more of Tristan and Kat in it.
