HOW TO STILL LOVE SUMMER EVEN WHEN YOU HATE IT
A Guest Post by award-winning author Lisa Childs
I was not a big fan of summer – due to the heat and humidity – until my husband and I bought a cottage “up north”. I’m not sure what exactly constitutes up north in Michigan. It seems to encompass a large area, but yet every Michigander knows where it is. Our cottage is on a small lake that’s just the right depth for a nervous swimmer new to kayaking. We also have a boat that pulls tubers – which is great fun for the kids. I enjoyed it, too, until the boat ran out of gas. Thankfully it’s a lake where everyone knows everyone and someone boated out with a full gas can to rescue us.
I also have the perfect, inspiring view out the front windows of the cottage that look onto the lake, so that I don’t miss any deadlines. It’s probably my favorite place to write now. It’s also a wonderful place to relax with a good book. Summertime reading is the best. I hope everyone else is enjoying their summer – and their summer reading – as much as I’ve been.
Here are some pictures below of my inspiring view

But someone doesn’t want Edith or River in the seemingly haunted house. When Edith falls victim to too many “accidents”—and falls hard for River—the Texas loner risks everything to protect her. If the ghosts of Coltons past lurk in the shadows, it’s up to Edith and River hunt them down…
