The whole town is ready for the holidays: The Cookie Club is baking, Main Street glitters with lights, the carolers sing . . .There’s even a Christmas wedding.
When bodyguard Ryder Southerland sees his best friend’s sister Katie at an L.A. Christmas party, he mistakes the slinky blonde for a celebrity stalker and tackles her. Then they tackle each other . . . at his place. The next morning, Katie’s gone, and Ryder tells himself it’s for the best. It isn’t. Now, one Christmas later, Ryder’s falling for the woman he’s been missing in the town he hasn’t missed at all . . .
Katie Cheek’s outgrown the romantic fantasies she had about Ryder when she was fifteen. Katie’s packed their hot night away in a box labeled “fling”—or tried to. But Twilight’s bad boy is the best man in her brother’s wedding. And up-close and personal, Ryder’s impossible to ignore. So Katie can either go into hiding—or surrender to Christmas magic.
Review
Katie Cheek is on a quest to discover herself after losing her fiancé and the first step is for this small town girl to leave her comfort zone, which leads her to head off to Los Angeles in a short-term house swap arrangement. For a few weeks, Katie would experience the glamorous life of the City of Angels without the usual expectations but who knew that she would collide literally with her past in the form of her teenage crush, Ryder Southerland?
Ryder left Twilight, Texas as soon as he hit eighteen for a variety of reasons, one of which was to avoid to avoid his feelings for his bets friend’s little sister, but Katie is now all grown up and hotter than he could have ever imagined and his encounter with her awakened desires he never expected to have. One year later, he still hasn’t forgotten how she rocked his world and returning to Twilight for her brother’s wedding means facing his past and reaching out for his future.
Christmas is a magical time, filled with fun and excitement, but it can also be a time for healing, reconciliation and finding love, which are all the things I enjoyed about A WEDDING FOR CHRISTMAS. It was a really sweet story but also unexpectedly passionate.
Both Katie and Ryder were very likable characters and their family and friends very supportive. My favorite character was actually Katie because even though she came across as a wholesome, small-town girl, she was very strong and independent, she knew what she wanted and was not willing to settle for less. Ryder was so scarred, it made the heart hurt but I loved that he was honest enough with himself to realize that forever with Katie was what he needed.
The town itself was very charming and made me want to head there for the holidays. This is the first book in this series that I’ve read and I didn’t have any issues following along. I’ll definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a sweet and delightful Christmas story.
