Protecting her life will mean betraying her trust
Ainsley Hamilton has always been the responsible one of the family. As the oldest daughter of presidential candidate Buckmaster Hamilton, she’s also a potential target. For months she’s sensed someone following her. When an expedition to scout locations for a commercial takes a terrifying turn, she’s rescued by a natural-born cowboy who tempts the good girl to finally let loose.
Sawyer Nash knows just how reckless it is to fall for someone he’s gone undercover to protect. Yet masquerading as an extra on set, he starts to see beneath Ainsley’s controlled facade. And with the election—and a killer—drawing closer, Sawyer stands to lose not just his job and his life but the woman for whom he’d gladly risk both.
Review
If you love an overloaded mystery and suspense that keeps your pulse pounding, then look no further than this book. HONOR BOUND wraps up the Montana Hamiltons series with lots of intrigue and ties up all loose ends from the previous books.
Ainsley Hamilton enjoys the independence her job as a location scout provides her, away from the drama back home, but her concerns about being stalked have just become serious due to a scouting trip that could have gone badly for her except for the timely intervention of a new member of the crew.
Off duty due to an injury, Sawyer Nash goes undercover as an extra on set to provide some protection for Ainsley, an assignment that gives him an opportunity to get to know that woman very well. But with an interfering ex-girlfriend, the possibility of losing his job and the still unknown stalker, there is no opportunity to take things anywhere.
Ms. Daniels is famous for writing mysteries that will grip you and this is one of them. She does a great job keeping multiple story lines going at the same time and bring them all together at the end of the book. Stalkers, jealous exes and anarchists are some of what are offered in this installment, but readers also get to touch base with the couples from the previous books. I haven’t read any of the previous books, but it wasn’t hard for me to figure out the players in this book.
Ainsley has been touted as being the responsible Hamilton progeny, but I wonder how much of that is true, when knowing that her father’s presidential campaign puts her in the cross-hairs of some crazies and even in spite of feeling like she’s being stalked, she does not ask for any kind of protection. Sawyer is has an unfortunate habit of falling for his rescues, but will Ainsley be the one to end that habit or will he move on to the next damsel in distress?
As the final book in the series which appears to have dangled lots of loose ends, I can see how the multiple characters and story-lines appeal, but for me they felt like drama overload that I had to wade through to get to the story of Ainsley and Sawyer. I did enjoy the suspense, but I wanted more romance than I got (and that is something I never thought I’d say).
If you enjoy intrigue and suspense and love light romance in your books, this is the book for you. My recommendation is to read the entire series from the beginning and in order.
