Nothing can keep a Hennessy from what he wants, even if it means getting dirty… And these men are good with their hands.
When an inheritance forces Natalie Green back to her hometown, she finds herself knee-deep in family heirlooms and unwanted memories. And some of those memories involve landscaper Chris Hennessy—the guy whose virginity she took all those years ago. As the two begin rekindling an old flame, Natalie realizes her entire life is about to be UPROOTED.
When lawyer Rachel Cambridge’s life falls apart, she should be heartbroken. So why can’t she drag her thoughts from the bad boy she walked away from years earlier? Sexy mechanic Sage Hennessy isn’t interested in forgiveness, but he won’t say no to a night in his bed. Will it be enough, or will Rachel get back the one man who’s ever REVVED her engine?
Cynical sports journalist Charlie Grant isn’t looking for love, especially not with smartass carpenter Adam Hennessy. But when Charlie hires Adam to rebuild her deck, she can’t seem to keep her hands to herself. When smoking hot sex turns into something more, she’s worried she might get NAILED.
Follow the rough-around-the-edges Hennessys and the women who snag their hearts in DIRTY WORK, an anthology with novellas by Amanda Heger, Harper St. George, and Tara Wyatt.
Review
DIRTY WORK is a very enjoyable collection of second chance romances, ranging from sweet to steamy, with charming everyday blue collar heroes, men who do good work with their hands (double entendre intended), strong and sassy heroines, each with a heartfelt story.
I usually avoid reviewing anthologies because of the length and number of books, but one of my favorite authors offered me a copy and I was unable to say no, which is a good thing because I have found a couple more authors whose work I’m interested in checking out. Every one of these books was a solid 4-star read for me and for someone who is not a fan of novellas I have no complaints because there was nothing left out.
In Uprooted by Amanda Heger, Natalie Green gets a chance to face her painful past and heal from it with the support of her old flame and also gets a second chance with him. Natalie had no plans to return to her small town after the events that led to her leaving, and even though she broke his heart, Chris Hennessy is not letting her run away with his heart a second time. This particular story is a very sweet and heartwarming story of forgiveness, healing and finding home. Chris was a very adorable, supportive and caring guy and really was Natalie’s safe place.
In Revved by Harper St. George, can a woman on a quest to live life on her terms get a do-over in her love life? Rachel Cambridge broke Sage Hennessy’s heart when she dumped him in order to please her parents, but she never forgot him in the eight years since then. After spending most of her life trying to fill the hole her sister’s death left in her parents’ life, it’s time to concede that she never will and live her life on her own terms. First up is reconnecting with the man she never stopped loving but can Sage forgive her? Revved is very steamy and the chemistry between Rachel and Sage was off the charts. Even their emotional connection felt so deep and I loved that Rachel was willing to risk rejection from Sage by putting herself out there and not giving up.
Nailed by Tara Wyatt stakes its claim to cute and rounds out the anthology nicely with humor and wit as two people who have been bruised by love have to decide if they are willing to take another chance on it. When his buddy needs his help fixing the damage to his neighbor’s property, the last person Adam Hennessy expects to come face to face with is the online date he stood up without explanation, but he’s definitely not going to pass up on the chance to make it up to her and pursue the attraction between them. Charlie Grant’s foray into love left her jilted on the eve of her wedding and since then, she has avoided it. Adam is a threat to her peace of mind because she knows she won’t recover if he breaks her heart, but will she let her fear rob her of the joy of loving him? This story has so much to love – a snarky heroine, a relentless hero, fun dialogue and very hot sex, all the things I need in my romance.
All in all, DIRTY WORK is very engaging and fun to read.
