It was wrong for us to be together, but it was even harder to be apart.

The memory of Dallas Sykes burns inside of me.

Everyone knows him as a notorious playboy, a man for whom women and money are no object. But to me, he’s still the one man I desperately crave—yet the one I can never have.

Dallas knows me better than anyone else. We bear the same scars, the same darkness in our past. I thought I could move on by staying away, but now that we’re drawn together once more, I can’t fight the force of our attraction or the temptation to make him mine.

We’ve tried to maintain control, not letting ourselves give in to desire. And for so long we’ve told ourselves no—but now it’s finally time to say yes.

Dirtiest Secret is intended for mature audiences.

Review

DIRTIEST SECRET is a dark, twisted, angst-laden, boundary-pushing tale of secrets, lies and forbidden cravings and, depending on your personal preferences some of the content may leaving you feeling uncomfortable but it’s also very intriguing. At some point all I could think was, ‘this is effed up!’

Dallas Sykes is notorious for his excesses, sexual and otherwise and a robust list of conquests with more lining up for a chance to brag about their turn in the sack with him. But this is a carefully cultivated façade aimed at distracting people from looking beneath the surface to the man whose life has been shaped by his dark past and a driving need for vengeance, a man drawn to the only woman he can never have, irrevocably tied to her by his dark past but also unable to bridge the distance between them for that same reason.

Jane’s way of coping with her demons is through her writing and keeping her distance from Dallas, which has worked for quite some time but not anymore and she’s willing to throw caution to the wind as she goes after what she wants. But even though the passion between them is intense, shadows from the past, new secrets and unanswered questions lay between them and will keep them apart unless they can be resolved.

I hadn’t read any of Ms. Kenner’s books before this and I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I started reading this book but the writing is really great and I enjoyed it, especially the suspense and mystery. It’s a lot darker than my usual tastes but I’ll definitely recommend that readers experience this book for themselves.
