He promised to stay away…but some promises are made to be broken

Plain-Jane computer programmer Khloe Richardson needs a date—one to make the prince of her dreams jealous. Maybe then he’ll finally see her as a desirable swan and not the ugly duckling in the second office from the left.

But when she bids on a bachelor at a charity auction, the man she wins is millionaire Niall Hunter—who once made intense, passionate love to her and then left without a word. She’s determined not to let her guard down again—among other things—around the infamous Irish lothario.

Niall never imagined his penance for one hot-as-hell night with his best friend’s little sister would be transforming her from a shy wallflower to a sultry siren. Helping her attract another man is torture…especially when he promised his friend he’d stay away. Plus, she wants forever, and he’s not a forever kind of guy. But Niall can’t stop wanting her. Can’t stop touching her. Can’t stop, period. And damn if he can remember why he has to.

Review

There is something deliciously illicit about getting involved with your best friend’s younger sister that gets me every time. Maybe it’s the fact that passion can trump the bro code or the thrill that comes from indulging in something frowned on, but I can never pass on those types of stories. When added with Ms. Simone’s writing skills, it’s doubly guaranteed that it’s a must read for me.

Khloe Richardson has decided to take charge of her life and make the man she desires see her as more than a plain, boring computer programmer and to achieve this she needs a man to make him notice her as a sexy, attractive woman. Lucky for her, she gets her pick of bachelors at a high society charity auction but the man she wins is Niall Hunter, the Irish charmer who rocked her world and broke her heart in one night and her brother’s best friend.

Niall is such a conflicted character whose got all these roiling emotions under the cold surface – guilt and pain over his best friend’s death; tenderness, love and lust when it comes to Khloe. Naill thinks he has to earn affection and his feelings of inadequacy were heartbreaking. Khloe is however every bit his match: hot to his cold, sweet to his sour, soft to his hard. I love that she fought for what she wanted and didn’t roll over and play dead after multiple rejections. The push/pull between them is one thing I don’t enjoy generally but it worked with this story.

THE MILLIONAIRE MAKEOVER is sweet, passionate and intense, but it’s also very hot!

About Naima Simone

I was born the daughter of a sharecropper…okay, maybe not. But, I am the daughter of a pastor from whom I inherited my love of romance. The man can preach a mean Song of Solomon! (There’s that plug, Daddy! You can pay me later!)

Although my first book starred a cucumber named Fred, my first romance came several years later in the seventh grade when I wrote myself as a heroine opposite Ralph Tresvant from New Edition. Through the power of my pen and imagination, Ralph took one look across a crowded stadium, met my dark, mysterious gaze, fell passionately in love and serenaded me in front of millions of fans. Out of all the girls in the world, he chose me! And, of course we lived happily ever after—once we had the inevitable fight, aka black moment, and made up with a passionate declaration of love and fidelity. This same story reincarnated itself many times over the years: with Donnie Wahlberg from New Kids on the Block, Brad Pitt, Denzel Washington, and as recently as last night, Vin Diesel.

Though the characters have changed, my love of love has endured. Shaping the lives of the unique men and women who experience the first, hungry bites of lust, the dizzying heights of passion and the tender, healing heat of love— nothing compares to it. Except maybe discovering new material for love scenes with my husband, the head of Research & Development!
