It’s always been you

Actress Chloe O’Connor has become America’s sweetheart, but back in little Christmas, Colorado, she’s still remembered as a shy, awkward schoolgirl. And there’s no one she dreads (and secretly wants) to see more than her high school crush, Easton McBride. Just one look from the former star quarterback and it’s like she’s instantly transformed from daytime drama queen to tongue-tied teenager. She’s kissed Hollywood actors and famous cover models, so she can certainly play it cool while turning up the heat, right?

After an injury ended his military career, Easton McBride built a good life in the rugged countryside of his hometown. And the last thing he needs is his quiet solitude shattered by a high-maintenance temptress who isn’t anything like the sweet Chloe he misses. While he enjoys the flirtation with this new bold and beautiful woman, he can’t help but wonder whether a kiss could have the power to bring back the small-town girl he’s grown to love.

Review

I can’t believe I’m about to say this but of all the books I’ve read in this series, this is actually one of my favorites! That’s saying a lot because at the end of the previous book, I did not think it was possible for Chloe to be redeemed but Ms. Mason did it and showed us a different side to her. Lots of humor, heart and emotion make KISS ME IN CHRISTMAS a delightful read.

Chloe O’Connor may be a TV darling but in Christmas, Colorado she is considered to be a high maintenance drama queen and an airhead. In reality, her ditzy routine covers a very sweet, smart and caring woman afraid of rejection. Chloe acts with the best intentions but the results are almost always far from what she intends. A childhood plagued by sickness and high school awkwardness have made her very insecure and she masks this with the diva attitude and only one person can see beneath that facade: Easton McBride.

Easton fondly remembers the quiet, kind and shy Chloe from high school that he enjoyed spending time with, but would prefer to stay away from the spoilt woman she has become. Unfortunately, this is not possible because Chloe needs someone to keep her in line and he’s the only one that can do this. What starts out rocky becomes a very sweet and emotional journey of discovery for Chloe. With Easton’s help, she lets the people of Christmas see the sweet and intelligent person underneath and finds herself enjoying a town that she couldn’t wait to leave and falling in love with the one man that has always been there for her. I loved Easton for standing up for Chloe and was rooting for their HEA.

Family drama, misunderstandings, small town shenanigans all add to the chaos of this story. It’s hard to say a lot about this book without spoilers, but I think it’s one everyone should experience firsthand.  This story makes you feel a lot: anger, happiness, frustration, sadness, laughter tears, etc. but it’s definitely worth reading. The entire series is a must-read and I can’t wait for the next book.
