The acclaimed author of Striking Distance returns with more danger, intrigue, and I-Team action…

CIA officer Nick Andris wants revenge. His last mission failed after a Georgian arms smuggler killed his lover. He’s been tailing a woman for three weeks hoping she will lead him to his target. But there’s a problem with the intel. Holly Elise Bradshaw is nothing more than an entertainment writer with a love for sex and designer clothes. Clearly someone at Langley made a mistake . . .

When Holly finds herself in trouble, the only weapons at her disposal are her brains and her body. But they won’t be enough to handle the man who’s following her. He’s going to turn her world upside-down.

Review

SEDUCTION GAME is exactly what I’ve come to love and expect from Ms. Clare’s I-Team series. It’s exciting and fast-paced; packed with surprises, action, espionage, betrayals and lots of hot, sexy chemistry. It also comes with a big group of friends who are unconditionally devoted and supportive and I love how they always show up for each other when needed. I have loved every single book in this series, but SEDUCTION GAME blows the rest out of the water because it takes everything I expected and turns it on its head. Starting with Holly.

In previous books, Holly was portrayed as a carefree, flighty, shoe-loving man-eater, with her eye on the rich men that could indulge her expensive tastes but completely harmless and loyal to her friends. Honestly, I expected her book to be one of those novellas to fill the time between full books, so I was absolutely surprised at the content of this book. The vapid Holly from previous books was all an act and it’s surprising that she had such huge secrets. This is a whole new Holly and she is amazing! She’s still girly and loves to shop but she can also hold her own when needed. She proves that a woman can love her shoes and sex, and still be bad-ass and smart.

Nick Andris’s last mission went to hell and several members of his team were killed, including his fiancée and since then he’s been consumed with getting vengeance. Well, he’s in the perfect position to get it, as soon as his surveillance provides him with a lead. Only, it appears that the intel he was provided appears to be faulty and the woman he’s been tailing seems to be exactly what she appears to be: a shallow, fashion-obsessed entertainment reporter.

Well, things are about to go crazy and soon the hunter becomes the hunted in a twisted life and death game and joining forces is the only way Holly and Nick can stay alive while they try to uncover the plot they’ve gotten tangled up in. There is a lot of action to keep the adrenaline pumping as well as tender, heart-felt moments to bring a tear to the eye. The only hitch for me was that there wasn’t more about Nick beyond what we got. It would have been nice to get some backstory on him beyond the botched op. However, that did not affect my enjoyment of their story in the slightest.

I know I always say this but it’s always true: this book can be read as a stand-alone, but I’ll recommend starting from the first book and reading in order, because once you start, you won’t be able to stop until you’ve read every single one of them (be prepared to give up sleep, too!).

Ms. Clare is an amazing storyteller and it shows in her well-researched and detail-oriented writing. I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next.
