Iris Clayton is supposed to be on a tropical island, soaking up the sun and a few dozen mojitos. Instead, she’s snowbound in Chicago overnight, holding out hope the morning flight isn’t cancelled. Good thing there’s a hot cowboy to keep her company. And it doesn’t hurt that Mr. Tall, Calm, and Sun-Streaked can make her tremble with one sultry look from under his well-worn hat.
Montana rancher Nash Wallace sucks at ice skating, has no clue what a selfie is, and may be a tad averse to breaking and entering, but being with Iris makes him want to bend a few rules. Or, hell, throw them out the window altogether. She’s fun, spontaneously crazy, and can rock a Muppet fur coat like no one’s business. He’s falling hard and fast, but wanting to spend his life with someone after one night is insane.
Except, nothing has ever felt so right, and neither of them wants the night to end…
Review
Adventures and road trips seem to bring out the best in the characters in this series and provide a lot of entertainment to the reader. I read Kissing Her Crazy first in the series and it was so-so but Driving Her Crazy made me laugh so much that I was willing to try again and Loving Her Crazy does not disappoint. Take a traditional, reserved rancher and pair him with a fun-loving, free- spirited city girl and throw them together in a snowed out city for a hilarious romp across the city.
Iris Clayton is trying to get to her friend’s brother’s destination wedding, but the weather is not cooperating and she’s stuck between flights for the next twenty-four hours. Stuck in the same situation is Nash Wallace, who’s headed to Miami for his younger brother’s graduation. Iris is very forward and having made Nash’s acquaintance on the plane, she suggests taking in the sights and sounds of Chicago until their flights depart the following morning, never mind that they both are not prepared for snowy and cold Chicago.
What happens next is lots of fun and sometimes sexy escapades from one end of the town to the other, starting with a trip to the thrift store for appropriate clothing (which was a experience all by itself). Their antics were mostly funny, sometimes embarrassing and they had a few close calls, but their ability to find things to enjoy in the midst of a snow storm was the best thing about this book. I enjoyed that they spent a lot of time just getting to know each other and I especially liked that Iris’s carefree nature rubbed off on Nash and she learned to let go and depend on him. But what will happen when it’s time for them to get back to their real lives?
Ms. Archer did a great job combining the romance with their playful adventures in a way that worked within the limited time they had and while insta-love is not usually my thing, I didn’t mind it here.
LOVING HER CRAZY is absolutely funny, crazy and sometimes cringe-worthy but totally worth skimping on sleep to finish.
