Truth or dare…

Erin Robinson is having an epically bad year. Her blossoming career on Broadway tanked, forcing her to crawl back to home to Wellington. The icing on her failure cake? Her former on-again, off-again fling is in town, and the sexy Marine is taking up way too much space.

Warren Davis always knew Erin was special, which is exactly why he can’t have her. A girl like her deserves something permanent–something neither of them wants. But now that they’re both back in town and she’s right there in front of him, a challenge in her eyes he’s never been able to resist, he’s questioning everything.

That challenge quickly escalates into an epic game of Truth or Dare. Erin’s sure she’s got him on lock, but as the night progresses, Warren’s dares intensify, drowning her in lust. But with the past still breathing down their necks, there’s no way either of them can win…

Review

Erin Robinson is the screw up of her family, unable to please her parents with her choices. She left her small town for the city to follow her dreams of success on the stage and only returns briefly on special occasions and holidays. This time though, she back for good and not just for the holidays as usual because she lost her job and apartment and she’s not looking forward to having her failures made public and starting over in the small town she ran away from.

Marine Warren Davis has always had feelings for Erin but with his dangerous career, their friends with benefits relationship worked for him but now things have changed and he’s willing to fight for a future with Erin, even if he has to play dirty and he’s got luck on his side because Erin can never resist a challenge.

HIS TO TAKE is a short story that shows that sometimes what you have is exactly what you need. Most people can relate with the characters, especially Erin who has always been weighed down by the expectations of her family and is resentful of the pressure.

This was a very quick read, but I was disappointed because I don’t think that this was an ideal end to the series. We barely scratched the surface of who Erin and Warren were and it was all over. The best things about it were the sweet ending and the emotional struggles both Erin and Warren experienced with the changes they were going through. It’s hard for me to say much about HIS TO TAKE without spoilers, but I think that anyone looking for a quick and steamy romp would like it. If however, you want more depth in your stories, this is not the book for you. I enjoyed the series as a whole, but this won’t be at the top of the list for me.

About Katee Robert

Katee Robert learned to tell stories at her grandpa’s knee. Her favorites then were the rather epic adventures of The Three Bears, but at age twelve she discovered romance novels and never looked back.

Though she dabbled in writing, life got in the way—as it often does—and she spent a few years traveling, living in both Philadelphia and Germany. In between traveling and raising her two wee ones, she had the crazy idea that she’d like to write a book and try to get published.

Her first novel was an epic fantasy that, God willing, will never see the light of day. From there, she dabbled in YA and horror, before finally finding speculative romance. Because, really, who wouldn’t want to write entire books about the smoking-hot relationships between two people?

She now spends her time—when not lost in Far Reach worlds—playing imaginary games with her wee ones, writing, ogling men, and planning for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
