Daire Dunne dreams of a docile and malleable mate to keep the home fires burning while he’s out being an enforcer, protector and warrior, slaying the dragons and waging war against evil. But Fate has other plans for him.
Enter the mysterious Cee Cee, a petite dynamo, devious and single-minded in her quest for vengeance against the man that killed her mate, determined to let nothing and no-one stop her. Not her sons and definitely not the overprotective enforcer standing between her and the information she needs to take down her target. Cee Cee has spent a lot of her life being protected, now it’s her turn to protect her family and she has no plans to step back and let the overbearing and cocky witch take up her fight, even if he lights her up like never before but Daire is relentless. He’s always one step behind her and now she has the added burden of hiding her identity from him.
Daire is grumpy and impatient with a really caring side to him. He’s a protector by nature but for the first time, he has to take a step back and give Cee Cee freedom while being there to step up if needed. Cee Cee for all her seeming impetuousness, is actually a brilliant strategist as demonstrated by her highly successful plan to financially cripple her target and her ability to get the drop on Daire not one, but three times. Cee Cee may have come across as reckless, which she was a few times, but she was also exploring and finding herself after being sheltered for so long and I love that Daire actually saw that and was there to keep her safe while allowing her to explore.
Ms. Zanetti’s books are solid gold in my opinion and I never pick up one expecting anything less than an absolutely entertaining read, with scorching chemistry between the characters and lots of intoxicating action, but WICKED EDGE kicks the action up a notch with scenes worthy of any Hollywood blockbuster.
I couldn’t help laughing at Daire’s plans for a compliant mate, especially when he landed one so far away from compliant but I love them together. I love this series and I can’t wait for the next book but the story I’m eagerly anticipating is Simone’s (just putting it out there!).
