Review
FBI Agent Kyle Dawson is a cocky and reckless agent who does not play nice with his colleagues and this has come back to bite him in the butt as he’s being reassigned to another office. His new assignment is both welcome and unwelcome because Kyle is going back home and will have to face the father and brothers he left behind as well as the only woman he ever loved, the woman who rejected his love.
Sheriff’s deputy Abby Morrow does not expect that taking on a side job would lead to her uncovering evidence of a human-trafficking ring and put her family’s safety in jeopardy but that is exactly what happens and her small town police force is not equipped to deal with the fallout from that discovery. Luckily for her, help comes in the form of her ex-boyfriend, Kyle. Kyle suspects that this case may be tied to the trafficking case he was working on in New Orleans before his reassignment and jumps in to help. As the case starts to heat up, so does the simmering chemistry between Abby and Kyle, but Abby is keeping secrets that may completely destroy their second chance at a relationship.
I have read some great reviews about Ms. SeRine’s books and the catchy blurb for this book made me interested in reading it and I really have to say that I loved it! STOP AT NOTHING is an explosive mix of passion, suspense and sexual chemistry. The emotions are so intense and the suspense is enough to keep you hooked. Abby and Kyle are faced with a case that spans several states and countries and may have ties to Abby’s family and at the same time, they have to deal with their past and the possible future of their relationship. Kyle also has to deal with his unstable relationship with his father.
Boy, there was a lot going on here, so many volatile emotions to deal with and I enjoyed every bit of it. The suspense was well-done and had me on edge because the bad guys always seemed to be a step ahead and were unpredictable. My favorite part of the story was Kyle and Abby’s characters. They were not perfect, but had screw-ups both in their personal lives and professionally and were so easy to relate to and had me rooting for them to get past their issues. Even though this is the first book in a new series, there were some bits that read like a continuation of a series and I went searching for a book that tied in to this and it had me wishing there was prequel book to this series.
Overall, STOP AT NOTHING is a very promising start to the series and I will definitely be reading the rest of it.
