He’s looking for love. She’s looking for trouble…
As a successful doctor and weekend cowboy, Chase Cooper enjoys a full life with plenty of female company. But lately, something hasn’t felt right. He’s been distracted. Antsy. Damn it, he’s been lonely. With an eye on settling down with a nice girl, Coop invites his high school best friend down to his ranch to see if maybe she’s the one for him…
Instead, her twin sister shows up. The one who loathes him.
Julia Blair is already halfway to Coop’s ranch when she learns the invitation wasn’t for her, but her vivacious twin sister. She has two choices: slink back home, or see just how far this farce will go. One glance at hotter-than-sin Coop, and she knows she’s playing a dangerously hot game. Because what this cowboy wants, this cowboy gets…
Chase Cooper is a successful and attractive young man with the ability to get any woman he wants but lately he wants more than he’s gotten so far. He wants to settle down and the possibility that he could find what he’s looking for with his high school best friend is too good to pass up, so he invites her to a weekend at his ranch to see if she could be The One but her twin sister shows up. The one he’s always wanted but never went after because of his friendship with her sister. But he’s not going to let this chance slip away from him.
Julia Blair has always been the good and dependable twin to her fun-loving and free-spirited sister and the one time she decides to take a chance and have fun, she finds herself pretty much at the mercy of her high school crush. She realizes that the invitation was meant for her sister but she’s willing to follow through on her resolve to have fun, at least for the duration of the vacation.
SLOW RIDE is a quick and fun read and packs quite a lot into a few pages. Cooper is relentless in his pursuit of Julia and he goes about it in a very sweet way, opening up and sharing himself with her. Julia finds the fun-loving and sexy side of herself that had been long buried by her need to please others. And the attraction between them? Really hot.
I have to say that for a novella, Ms. Fox did a great job rounding out this story. The romance, the sexual interludes, the scenery, everything is just enough to keep the reader interested.
I love the premise of the stories in this series: reaching out to high school friends/crushes to see if any lingering embers can be fanned into forever flames, and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.
