He’s the perfect kind of trouble…

Zoe Davenport is on her way to a perfect, idyllic, private resort, where there’s no ex-fiancé and definitely no public scandal involving said ex-fiancé. But one look at the exceptionally sexy resort owner, and Zoe wonders if she’s escaped scandal just long enough to land herself in even hotter water…

Except that Ryder Nash isn’t exactly a stranger. He and Zoe used to live next door to each other. She was the sweet little temptation who couldn’t stand him-the bad boy with a loud car and a new girl every weekend. What Zoe doesn’t know is that all those years ago, her father paid Ryder off…to keep him away from her.

And if Ryder gives into the fiery attraction that rages between them-even for a moment-he’ll lose everything all over again.

Review

Zoe Davenport has lived her life trying to fit into the role created by her overly ambitious father for her. Even her engagement to an up and coming senator is part of a larger plan to create a politically powerful dynasty with an eye on the White House.  However, now that her fiancé’s indiscretions are available digitally for all to see, he is firmly in the ex category and Zoe is off to paradise to lay low until the scandal blows over. But paradise comes with the most tempting man ever, her teenage crush: Ryder Nash.

Ryder grew up next to Zoe and she was out of his league back then. Now fate has thrown her in his path again and she’s his for the taking. The only problem is getting involved with her would cost him literally everything. Will he be able to resist her? Maybe one night will be enough. But what happens when reality intrudes? Maybe she might just be worth it.

ONE NIGHT WITH THE BILLIONAIRE is another great story by Ms. Ballance with fun and witty dialogue, great chemistry and enjoyable characters. Ryder is a very appealing mix of the demanding, rock-your-world man in bed and very sweet and thoughtful out of it. Zoe for the most part struggled with her desire to please her father and her need to carve out her own identity separate from her father and his grand plans for her and she succeeded in the end.

I enjoyed this story because it’s a major departure from the usual billionaire story. Ryder and Zoe are very normal and struggle with their rekindled feelings for each other and the impact of these on their lives when reality intrudes, especially because Zoe’s life is back in D.C. while Ryder lives on the island. While the contract with Zoe’s father, which set everything in motion ten years earlier did not feel realistic to me, it was the catalyst for all of Ryder’s conflicted feelings and much of his hot and cold reactions to Zoe. I enjoyed the creative resolution to the terms of the contract and absolutely loved that my favorite couple – Chloe and Knox from The Marriage Agenda – made an appearance here.

ONE NIGHT WITH THE BILLIONAIRE is a fun story that I highly recommend and I look forward to more from Ms. Ballance.

About Sarah Ballance

Sarah and her husband of what he calls “many long, long years” live on the mid-Atlantic coast with their six young children, all of whom are perfectly adorable when they’re asleep. She never dreamed of becoming an author, but as a homeschooling mom, she often jokes she writes fiction because if she wants anyone to listen to her, she has to make them up. (As it turns out, her characters aren’t much better than the kids). When not buried under piles of laundry, she may be found adrift in the Atlantic (preferably on a boat) or seeking that ever-elusive perfect writing spot where not even the kids can find her.

She loves creating unforgettable stories while putting her characters through an unkind amount of torture—a hobby that has nothing to do with living with six children. (Really.) Though she adores nail-biting mystery and edge-of-your-seat thrillers, Sarah writes in many genres including contemporary and ghostly paranormal romance. Her ever-growing roster of releases may be found on her website.
