The up-and-coming matchmaking agency Kinnections is the hottest thing to hit Verily, New York—just like Kennedy Ashe, social director for the service she owns with her two best girlfriends. A coach, consultant, and cheerleader rolled into one super-sizzling package, Kennedy creates dream dates, encourages singles to shine, and never refuses a challenge—not even Nate Ellison Raymond Dunkle, rocket scientist, nerd extraordinaire, and Kennedy’s newest client.

Kennedy vows to work her magic and transform this hot mess in a lab coat with a disastrous relationship track record into the most wanted man on the Verily dating scene. If only she could turn the wand on herself . . .

Though she radiates confidence and sex appeal, Kennedy harbors deep-seated insecurities from a tormented past and lifelong struggle with weight issues. When she realizes she and Nate are cut from the same cloth and might be perfect together, can Kennedy learn to let her heart lead the way? Or will her fears sentence her to the sidelines as Nate finds love—with someone else?

Review

Nate Dunkle is on a quest to settle down and have a family but first he has to find himself a wife and like every good scientist knows, research is the name of the game and boy, has he done his research. Maxim, Cosmo, Vogue, Glamour, Self, you name it, he pored over all the girlie magazines for what women want (I’m having flashbacks to the movie and Helen Hunt) and he’s ready to jump in. You gotta love a man who takes his research seriously, but unfortunately for Nate, it’s crash and burn time because all his research does not teach him how to converse with women and he finds himself striking out until help comes in the form of Kennedy Ashe.

Kennedy realizes that Nate is not a creep like she initially thought, but a nerd out of his element in the world of dating and she decides to take him under her wing and make him over. First up is signing him up with Kinnections, their matchmaking agency and then a total makeover of his looks and wardrobe. What follows is a comedic series of events. From the Japanese warrior-ish masseuse to the snooty stylist, there was something hilarious that happened throughout his transformation and kept me laughing really hard. Even though he did not understand why he needed all the changes, Nate kept at it especially because it meant spending time with Kennedy. And underneath the bad hair, ill-fitting clothes, ugly shoes, orange tan and nerdy glasses was a hottie. All it took to reveal him was a new wardrobe and some major grooming!

Nate was attracted to Kennedy from the first time he saw her and all the time spent together only made his feelings stronger but even with major chemistry and some making out, Kennedy is not interested in going further with Nate because he was her client and also because she has her own secrets. Kennedy is beautiful, sexy, confident and outgoing, but she was not always so. Tormented and ostracized because of her weight as a teen, Kennedy is deeply insecure and is leery of relationships she can’t control.

Nate is my favorite male in the entire series! I love him and his droll sense of humor, but I also love the absolute focus he brings to everything, whether he’s trying to figure out a difficult process in his lab or trying to figure out the intricacies of dating and relationships! And when he turned that focus on Kennedy, the results were very satisfying for both of them, if you know what I mean. Even though he understood what Kennedy had been through, I like that he wasn’t a pushover. He knew what he wanted and it was all or nothing, but he was not going to grovel for it.

Poor Kennedy! She absolutely had no idea what had hit her. She’s always been in control of everything until Nate and wasn’t interested in forever but Nate gave her a reason to change her mind. I really liked her because she wasn’t perfect but she was real and someone any woman can identify with, even if her stubbornness was sometimes annoying. She’s been on the search for perfect, can she find that in Nate?

SEARCHING FOR PERFECT was so much fun to read. It’s sexy and filled with humor, with a drool-worthy nerd and when the nerd gets the hot girl? Very satisfying. While the story line is familiar, Ms. Probst brings something interesting to it and for me, is a definite must-read.
