His heart is bound tighter than the bondage he craves…

Determined to put her past behind her, Cassidy Peyton moves to the Big Apple. But New York has a few dark secrets of its own, including Serve, an exclusive BDSM club. It’s a place she isn’t sure she’s ready for, until she sees him watching her. Hot. Intent. Knowing. With eyes that leave her stomach tied in knots, because the loneliness he’s trying to hide matches her own.

Security expert David Cavill has more secrets than any man should. Secrets that forever shut down any possibility of love, marriage, or family. Yet Cassidy draws him in, an intoxicating combination of strength, candor, and sensuality that David can’t resist. But as their bond deepens, Cassidy must decide if she can love a man whose heart is bound tighter than the form of bondage he craves.

Review

Moving to New York is Cassidy Peyton’s chance for a fresh start but she certainly was not planning for Serve to be the location for that fresh start. Roped into acting as wingman (or wingwoman) for her friend and roommate, Cassidy catches the eye of David Cavill. David is on a short break from work and is in Serve to blow off some steam and he finds himself stepping in to help a friend in need. An immediate attraction blooms between Cassidy and David and Cassidy goes from an interested bystander to a member-in-waiting, with the understanding that her time with David would be limited, with a definite end date.

David has family issues and secrets that do not allow for commitment to a relationship, a lesson he learned the hard way when he got ditched by his ex-girlfriend after he shared his secret with her and he vowed from that moment to keep his relationships short-term. However, fresh-faced Cassidy and her willingness to explore her sexuality with David as her teacher prove irresistible and soon the agreed time is not enough.

BIND ME BEFORE YOU GO was a quick read with surprisingly complicated but likable characters. David was not the usual type of Serve Dom. His secrets are enough to make him feel out of control so his outlet to release the pressure is his rope play and he gets off on the pleasure he gives his partners. I liked that he was considerate and protective and a master of his art. Cassidy has lived her life pleasing everyone in it, especially the men and if exploring the offerings at Serve will help her discover herself, then she’s definitely all for it and I really liked her attitude.

I like that even though there was that instant attraction between David and Cassidy, their story was not just about what what they did in Serve. They were people with real-life issues and fears that affected their ability to enter into and maintain relationships, but keeping his secrets while demanding trust from Cassidy was a bit hypocritical in my opinion and his reaction to her discovery was a little over the top. I’m not a huge fan if insta-love and I think my only reservation about this story was the speed at which they went from agreeing to play at Serve to falling in love. In spite of that, BIND ME BEFORE YOU GO was an enjoyable read.

About Harper Kincaid

A woman with the heart of a revolutionary,
The mind of a pragmatist,
And the inappropriate humor of your tipsy BFF...

Born in California and raised in South Florida, I've moved around like a gypsy with a bounty on my head ever since. Along the way, I've worked as a community organizer, a professional matchmaker, an art teacher, a popular blogger, and a crisis counselor (to name a few). All the while, longing to have the guts and follow-through to do what I really wanted: to write and become a published author. That wish has finally come true and I'm so tickled I think I just peed a little.

What else? Hmm...I'm a kid of the Seventies and I love indie, lo-fi, complaint rock played on vinyl, wearing black, the theater, well-informed optimism, happy endings (both kinds), and making those close to me laugh 'til they snort. I'm a self-admitted change junkie, loving new experiences and places, but have now happily settled in the cutest lil' town, Vienna, Virginia.
