Alexandra Monzelle is a hard-fighting, heat-packing Seattle vice cop, and she’s not much interested in being protected. Her short skirt and sex-kitten heels are tools to lure her suspects into talking about the deadly new drug hitting the streets. She can take care of herself and then some. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to get that through to Kellach Dunne.

Kellach is a fresh import from Dublin, and he’s landed at the heart of a vicious motorcycle club that deals in guns, narcotics, and mayhem. He’s all male, all rough power—and all interference in her damn investigation. Maybe he’s one of the good guys. Maybe not. Lex knows an affair with an immortal like him would risk everything. No matter how delicious he looks…

Review

Move over Karys family, there’s a new hottie in town and his name is Kellach Dunne!

If you loved the Dark Protectors series like me, I’m sure you were very sad to see the end until the news of the spin-off series. Well, say hello to Kellach. We met Kell as an enforcer for the Witches Council, the Coven Nine in the Dark Protectors series. Now he’s undercover with his brothers in a Seattle motorcycle club to find and shut down a drug ring responsible for producing and distributing a drug that’s lethal to witches and humans alike. What he does not expect is the feisty Alexandra Monzelle. Lex is a Vice detective on the trail of a deadly new drug, the same drug Kell is on the hunt for and she does not trust Kell.

I absolutely adore Rebecca Zanetti’s writing and WICKED RIDE joins my pile of re-reads very easily. I read this book in a matter of hours and I loved every minute of it. Kell is a deliciously sexy man, possessive, dominant and protective. And that Irish accent? Yes, I was giggling like a schoolgirl! Kell comes from a world where women are seen as delicate and obedient, to be coddled and protected and even though he wasn’t looking, he found his mate and now all he wants is to protect and pamper her.

“With the bite and the burn? I’ve mated you, baby. Welcome to immortality”

Lex is a badass cop with an attitude, who lives for her job and she’s good at it. She’s got a gun and she does not want to be protected. The daughter of a drug dealer, she became a cop to get drug dealers off the streets and she’s completely dedicated to that cause until Kell gives her reason to put someone before the job. Lex is fiercely independent and stubborn and I really liked her fire and sass, even with the huge chip on her shoulder and her major trust issues. She took the badass attitude a little too far sometimes, but her history makes it understandable. The problem is, this new drug is nothing like she’s ever seen and will need Kell’s help to find the people behind it.

Did he just f******* call her lass like some lady from a century ago? “ Oh no , Irish boy. Get on your knees. Now.”

Lex and Kell have to figure out their relationship and find middle ground even as danger surrounds them. I love that characters from the Dark Protectors series appear here and we get to keep up with their lives as well. Witches, vampires, demons, shifters make for interesting times in this convoluted story that has a bit of everything: passion, romance, suspense and non-stop action.

WICKED RIDE is a fun, fast-paced and thrilling start to the series and I look forward to more. I’ll say this though: you do not need to read the Dark Protectors series to follow this but I promise you that reading it will absolutely enhance your enjoyment of this new series.
