Annie Griffin is in need of a place to stay while her condo is being renovated and Max offers her his place to stay in while he’s out of town on a job, in exchange for her keeping an eye on his pets. Annie and max have friends in common and have always gotten along, but now that she’s staying at Max’s place, she discovers a whole new side to him. Max is fun, makes her laugh and is supportive of her decisions. Beneath the friendship that has grown between them is a smoldering attraction but Annie is all too aware of the fact that she is eight years older than Max and pregnant with another man’s baby. Also, Max is a notorious ladies man.
Max is a Bowen – protective, territorial and possessive – and he is not giving up without a fight. He will overcome her resistance one step at a time with the perfect tools – back rubs, orgasms and laughter.
I loved seeing their friendship grow into love and a relationship between them and Ms. Aycart handled the age difference between them well. Max is so mature and handles Annie so skillfully that I even forgot that he was younger than her. Max is to-die-for! His laid-back and fun-loving persona hides a very possessive, determined and dominant man but he’s also very sweet and caring. Annie is also great. In spite of her insecurities, she is fun to be with. I love that she and Max found pleasure in each other’s company, enjoyed simple things and had shared interests like a love for old TV shows. Some of my favorite things were the preppers evacuation drill and the ‘Clits and Chicks meeting’ and their cliterature.
To the Max has it all: humor, romance, steamy sex and even a bit of suspense. Max is my favorite Bowen brother and I have read my copy of To the Max so many times that if it was a paperback, it would be dog-eared by now!
