When Quinn Rockwell left Rockwell Island a decade ago to build a shipping empire, he never thought he’d return to live on Cape Cod Bay—that is, until his grandfather summons Quinn and his four siblings to take over the prestigious Rockwell Resort. Quinn is already working fifteen-hour days, and the last thing he has time for is his grandfather’s demands. But on his first night back, when Quinn finds a gorgeous and carefree woman skinny-dipping in his favorite cove, he’s tempted to ignore his work for a while…and focus on her instead.
As a free spirit who follows her heart and her dreams, Shelley Walters is not the kind of girl to wait around for Mr. Right, so she heads to Rockwell Island for the honeymoon of her dreams—a solo honeymoon. Ready for a week of sun and fun, she never expected to meet a man like Quinn Rockwell.
Wealthy and intensely driven, Quinn is everything Shelley swore she didn’t want. Refreshingly spontaneous and a true romantic, Shelley is everything Quinn never knew he needed. Drawn together despite their differences, during a week of sizzling-hot passion and deep conversations, they fall head over heels for each other. But when their perfect week on the island is over, will their love survive in the real world?
When two powerhouse authors known for some of the best stories on love, family and friendship decide to collaborate on a series, you know that you are in for a treat! Cape Cod Kisses is the best beginning to a series I have read in a long time and Ms. Andre and Ms. Foster give us what they are famous for: love, family and friendship.
Shelley Waters has lived all her life forging her own path and not willing to wait around for Mr. Right, she heads to Rockwell Island all by herself on a solo honeymoon – a week of fun and sun. On her first night on the island, she meets the sexy Quinn Rockwell.
Quinn Rockwell has been summoned home along with his siblings by the patriarch of the family, his grandfather Chandler and presented with an ultimatum to take over the family’s resort or lose it to outside investors and watch hundreds of islanders who depend on the resort for jobs be out of them. Quinn is a workaholic who lives for his job and giving in to his grandfather’s demands would mean more work for him. While out for a run, he spies on Shelley skinny dipping and her sunny and fun personality tempts him to put his work aside and spend time with her. Shelley only planned to spend a week on the Island but finds herself falling in love with it and begins to consider making her home on the island. Quinn finds himself torn between work and his feelings for Shelley and the more time they spend together, the deeper their feelings for each other grow.
There is so much to love about Cape Cod Kisses! Shelley is a great character, fun and spontaneous and very much the opposite of the driven and intense Quinn but also the best thing that has happened to him because she makes him sit up and enjoy life and not bury himself in his work. I love that both Shelley and Quinn did not spend time denying their feelings, but accepted them and focused on putting in the hard work and making the sacrifices needed to make their relationship successful. Shelley also gets what she has always longed for: acceptance and a large, loving and boisterous family and everything that comes with it. This is very much a love story and I enjoyed every minute of reading about Shelley and Quinn fall in love. I also enjoyed the easy friendship between the siblings and their parents and seeing the values instilled in them by their parents. The island itself sounds so dreamy that I want to visit! Even Chandler is not so bad, just a cranky and lonely old man.
All I can say is Rockwell Island’s official slogan should be: Rockwell Island – where dreams come true.
