A man who gave up on love
Mitch Bradford is an intimidating man. In his professional life, he has a reputation for demolishing his opponents in the courtroom. At the exclusive BDSM club Sanctum, he prefers disciplining pretty submissives with no strings attached. In his line of work, there’s no time for a healthy relationship. After a few failed attempts, he knows he’s not good for any woman—especially not his best friend’s sister.
A woman who always gets what she wants
Laurel Daley knows what she wants, and her sights are set on Mitch. He’s smart and sexy, and it doesn’t matter that he’s a few years older and has a couple of bitter ex-wives. Watching him in action at work and at play, she knows he just needs a little polish to make some woman the perfect lover. She intends to be that woman, but first she has to show him how good it could be.
A killer lurking in the shadows
When an unexpected turn of events throws the two together, Mitch and Laurel are confronted with the perfect opportunity to explore their mutual desire. Night after night of being close breaks down Mitch’s defenses. The more he sees of Laurel, the more he knows he wants her. Unfortunately, someone else has their eyes on Laurel and they have murder in mind.
Lexi Blake’s Masters and Mercenaries series is book crack: once you start, you can’t stop! I’ll even confess that at least once a month, I binge read the entire series, so I’m overjoyed that Adored is here.
Laurel Daley wanted Mitch Bradford from the first time she saw him and she is determined to get him, even going as far as getting a membership at Sanctum, his BDSM club, in a bid to get his attention. Mitch is just as interested as Laurel but he will not take her up on her offer for several reasons: she works for him; she’s his best friend’s sister; and he is too old and too rough for her. Well, someone had better tell his penis that! Because it’s about to get him into more than he bargained for.
I had a lot of fun reading Adored and laughed so much at the antics of the characters. Laurel is too much: loving, sassy, spirited, determined and has an amazing capacity for patience. Some other woman may have walked away after being rejected so many times, but not Laurel. She saw the special in Mitch and hung in there, especially after hearing about how he grew up.
I felt very sorry for Mitch as he fumbled his way through his relationship with Laurel, always putting his big foot in his mouth! Mitch did not have it easy growing up with a manipulative and selfish mother and a distant father and does not trust in emotions. Being taken for everything by his two ex-wives just further proved it to him. So when Laurel comes along, he’s completely closed off emotionally and lives his life guided by rules. Laurel is like a wrecking ball as she demolishes his orderly life and even though Mitch’s insecurities and commitment issues threaten what they have, Laurel, with a little help, is determined to make Mitch happy.
Adored is the perfect addition to the series, with humor, mystery, action, hot sexy scenes and our favorite characters from previous books!
