MORE by Lea Griffith: Excerpt & Guest Post

Hey all! I am excited to welcome author Lea Griffith to my blog to talk about her new book, MORE and how she blends parts of the BDSM lifestyle with the central theme of Dominance and submission in her All or Nothing series.

Thank you, The Sassy Bookster, for having me today! I am tickled to be here—your site is gorgeous and I can’t wait to run my mouth, lol!

Let’s talk D/s, shall we? Dominance and submission—two halves of the same coin, and a dynamic that leaves me breathless. I’m a romance writer and it’s my job as such to make sure that the topics I write about are given in a truthful, meaningful way. When writing about aspects of BDSM and D/s it’s always been important to me to express those dynamics in a way my readers will both understand and enjoy. Because whether a pat or a tickle is your thing, BDSM and D/s, can be sexy as hell.

My All or Nothing series revolves around the Dominance/submission dynamic and incorporates elements of the BDSM lifestyle. Dominance by virtue of the word itself implies power or influence over others. Submission is the act of accepting or yielding to a superior force or to the will of authority of another person.

In the D/s lifestyle there are things each partner is a complement of the other. It can include a set of customs, rituals or behaviors where one person gives another control over them and this can occur within or outside of erotic episodes. One of the most intriguing aspect of D/s for me is that it can, and often does, go much deeper than sex. It is about trust so deep it seems unending. Giving up control of your responses to another person? Consider that for a second and come back to me.

Yeah—tough for most of us on a good day. Some practice D/s only in the bedroom. Others practice in a full lifestyle where the Dom is a Dom 24/7, 365 and the same for the submissive. Like pieces of a puzzle they fit together perfectly, aligning to become a unit based in truth and trust.

And not all Dominants are male. There are indeed female Dominants, Dommes, and male submissives—each giving and receiving what they need. Whether a Dom or a Domme, the strengths that each person displays in D/s are astonishing. Imagine for a moment that everything you are, everything you need is wrapped up in making sure another person is taken care of. That your sole fulfillment comes from controlling another person’s happiness, whether in the bedroom or outside of it. Imagine for a moment that everything you are, everything you need is wrapped up in giving control to another person. There is a beauty to this dynamic that I’ve tried to capture in MORE.

For Tobias and Ruthie, the D/s dynamic is integral. Tobias is a strong-willed man, who finds his greatest sexual satisfaction in controlling his partner’s responses and ecstasy. For Ruthie, she is willing to give Tobias control in the bedroom but slowly begins to realize that giving Tobias control doesn’t mean she loses pieces of herself. It means she is making those pieces stronger. Poor Tobias thinks Ruthie might be too fragile for his lust and their journey is filled with intense sexual encounters that incorporate elements of BDSM. Hot. Hot. Hot. These encounters help to show each of them that trust I spoke of earlier is essential if they’re going to make it work.

I loved writing Tobias and Ruthie’s story and I’ve already finished book 3 which will push a few boundaries but continues to revolve around that D/s aspect. I’m enjoying this series and it’s my hope you will as well!

Thanks again for having me, Sassy Bookster!

Tobias was going to fight her on it—but he wouldn’t win. He might be a true Dom, but she held the power in her submission. Once the idea had taken root, it had been a no-brainer to take what she wanted and give him what he needed in return.

The music began to fade and the CD changer hummed as it switched discs. Ruthie heard water running in the kitchen, then the thud of the refrigerator closing, and she took a deep breath. Soft footfalls announced his arrival. Heat at her back, a muscular arm wrapping around her waist, pulling her into his hard body, and then his lips on her neck had her heart skipping a beat.

“Hey, baby,” he murmured. “Told you I was coming to you.”

“I couldn’t wait,” Ruthie said with a sigh. “I missed you. Jeremiah said you’re going out of town this weekend, and I wanted to make sure I had plenty of time with you before then.”

His lips nipped at her skin, teeth sinking into the flesh beneath her ear and biting just enough for her to gauge his mood. Her man was wound tight tonight. “I’m heading to Italy Saturday—shipping business. Jeremiah wants to secure space in the Port of Naples. I’ll be gone about a week or so.” He squeezed her and chuckled. “You’re impatient, but I can’t fault you—it’s the same for me,” he told her as he tilted her head with his free hand and began nuzzling her jaw.

Ruthie shivered and relaxed against him. She was a tall woman at five eight, and he towered over her, well over six feet of solid temptation. It was no small thing that his every move seemed protective and geared toward ensuring her comfort.

“Mmm-hmm,” he hummed as he continued to lick and nuzzle her skin.

“I want you.” It came out a breathy whisper when what she wanted to do was shout it to the rafters.

He stilled, muscles tensing under her palms. Ruthie twined her hands with his, turning in the circle of his arms before she lifted her face and smiled up at him. He pushed a stray strand of hair off her face before he traced her lips with the pad of his thumb.

She flicked a tongue out and licked the digit. His breath hissed in and she was back to smiling. She wielded so much feminine power in that moment, it was an aphrodisiac all its own.

“I ache for you,” she murmured as she braced her hands on his chest, went on tiptoe, and licked across his lips.

He remained a rock, unmoving, but his heart beneath her hands threatened to beat out of his chest.

“I want to give you all of me, Tobias. I’m ready,” she affirmed, unable to quell the tremor in her voice.

About Lea Griffith

Lea Griffith began sneaking to read her mother’s romance novels at a young age. She cut her teeth on the greats: McNaught, Woodiwiss, and Garwood. A firm believer that love makes the world go round, she still consumes every romance book she can put her hands on, but now she writes her own.
Lea lives with her husband and three teenage daughters in rural Georgia. Two dogs, a cat, and a beta fish named Coddy George complete a family that is always in motion. When not working at the EDJ, she’s usually at her keyboard, using every spare second to write. Science fiction, paranormal and contemporary romance, oh my! Nothing is off-limits when it comes to her writing.
